How To: Properly Measure Your Turbo
(and pick the right blanket)
The following information is used when fitting a turbo blanket onto an externally wastegated turbine housing.
If you are trying to fit an internally wastegated turbine housing (meaning the wastegate diaphragm or actuator is physically mounted to the turbo with a rod that actuates the wastegate flapper on the turbine side) then we require a third measurement to correctly place the cutout for the wastegate flapper arm.
To properly size a turbo blanket to a turbine housing we typically use 2 measurements. We use the CIRCUMFERENCE (figure A) and the WIDTH (figure B) of the turbine housing to correctly fit the blanket. Measurements for most externally wastegated turbo housings fit somewhere between the below listed universal housing blankets that we manufacture.
